Pierre de la Ramée, Latinized Petrus Ramus (1515-1572), was a French thinker who contributed decisively to the transition from humanism to rationalism. His role in the history of law has been confused and the main objective of this book is to attempt a clarification of his work and that of the jurists who followed his ideas. Professor Rafael Ramis Barceló reviews the historiography and proposes a new way of understanding Ramus's work, based on a rereading of his work, a periodification of it and an analysis of the influence that he exerted on the jurists who were inspired in it, from Bodin to Leibniz and Thomasius. |
