Sommario/riassunto

One of the most present confusions in the field of geographical science refers to the differentiation of the concepts of space and territory; another, also very present, is that which refers to the notion of territoriality. These are questions that we try to clarify in the course of this text, going through relatively recent works already considered classic in geographical thought, and others perhaps less expressive at the national level, but also very important for the constitution of the current perspectives of approaching the territory and territoriality. Human territoriality is studied, simultaneously taking into account our sociability, animality and spirituality, highlighting the first dimension while still considering the others. The text refers, therefore, to the territorialities of the animal-man-social-spiritual, and not to the other animals. Another important initial observation refers to the scalar and temporal levels with which one works. When the text refers to the spatial scales of analysis, they are conceived in a trans-multiscale manner, that is, at the local level (street, neighbourhood, rural “community”, etc.); at the municipal, state, regional, national, international and global level; and when mentioning the temporal scales, they are understood as instantaneous times, periods, phases, and as synchronous slow and fast rhythms, in a coexisting and historical transtemporal perspective. One of the goals is to highlight the need to understand rhythms and inequalities, especially the slower ones, usually neglected in studies of (human) geography.
