Dedicated perhaps to the most outstanding figure in the tradition of Argentine tango, this biography of Carlos Gardel not only responds to what is minimally expected of the genre: to account for the milestones and situations that articulated the most significant of the vital journey of a character -that S. Collier fulfills, revealing the enormous intellectual talent that presided over his extensive historiographical work- but also, it involves a kind of very interesting narrative model, provoking an intense and even passionate reading of the text. And the secret of this is very simple: to unite the analytical attribute around the facts, an outstanding exhibition quality that traps the reader in a traína that allows him to approach, through a singular life, both the broad stage of an era ( first decades of the 20th century), as well as the development of a mass musical culture: that of tango. |
