Ce livre, consacré à l’adaptation théâtrale en Irlande de 1970 à 2007, s’attache aux réécritures dramatiques qui virent le jour en des temps marqués par une effervescence notable sur le plan des adaptations. Le bornage temporel initial s’explique par une renaissance théâtrale en Irlande à cette époque, renouveau marqué notamment par l’apparition de dramaturges majeurs, tels Brian Friel, Tom Murphy ou Thomas Kilroy. Les travaux rassemblés dans cet ouvrage s’efforcent de poser un regard neuf sur l’adaptation en Irlande, et de mettre à jour quelques singularités révélatrices du paysage théâtral irlandais contemporain. Loin d’être une histoire de l’adaptation, les diverses contributions de ce livre interrogent de façon variée la manière dont l’adaptation a apposé sa marque sur le théâtre irlandais depuis les années soixante-dix. |
