Le Centre Georges Pompidou a organisé en novembre 2003 une exposition sur Jean Cocteau - poète, dramaturge, artiste français - à l’occasion du quarantième anniversaire de sa mort. La Bibliothèque publique d'information a participé à cette manifestation en proposant une journée d’hommage en collaboration avec les Éditions Gallimard à l’occasion de la publication du 500e titre de la collection de la Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, consacré au théâtre de Jean Cocteau. Une table ronde a notamment eu lieu sur le thème ? : « La notion de collection, ou comment lutter contre l’éparpillement des choses dans le monde ».
