Professor of Arabic at the National School of Oriental Languages then at the Sorbonne, director of studies at the Practical School of Advanced Studies, of the Institute of Islamic Studies of the University of Paris (1956-1965) and of the Centre for Arab Lexicography, Régis Blachère (1900-1973) is a monument of Orientalism and Arab studies in France. In his thesis on Mutanabbi his grammar of classical Arabic , through his Arabic-French-English Dictionary , the history of Arabic literature: the origins to the end of the XV th century AD and especially its "critical" translation of the Koran (1947) and his attempt to reclassify the suras in the chronological order of their revelation, no Arabist has been able to miss his work, of which this work, Analecta , brings together, in a long series of articles, the most striking texts.
