|
Aux fins d'une analyse critique de la relation entre les intellectuels et l'État, on distingue trois catégories d'intellectuels : des scientifiques ou spécialistes des sciences dites pures ou appliquées, des spécialistes des sciences dites humaines ou sociales et des idéologues. La description qui en est faite, cherche à privilégier l'illusion: l'illusion dont le pouvoir revêt les intellectuels et l'illusion qu'ils entretiennent sur eux-mêmes, sur leur relation avec le pouvoir et en particulier avec l'État. L'argumentation tend à démontrer que les sciences sociales aussi bien que les sciences exactes, sont difficilement dissociables ou détournables des formes modernes du gouvernement, de la gestion et de l'administration, qui requièrent leurs services. Quant à la critique, position typique de l'intellectuel de gauche, elle participerait du pouvoir, selon l'auteur, aussi bien que l'apologie du pouvoir de l'intellectuel de droite,dans la mesure où cette critique servirait d'opposition loyale au pouvoir, sur son terrain et dans ses termes. |
