Les crises politiques, économiques ou sociales sont un des meilleurs observatoires du fonctionnement des sociétés. Elles engendrent également des situations inédites. moments de durcissement, d'ajustement, de recomposition voire de transformation des rapports entre les hommes et les femmes et de leurs représentations, dans les différentes sociétés étudiées ? L'intérêt de cette histoire est aussi de revisiter, dans une perspective sexuée, des événements, pour enrichir et approfondir leur analyse, tout en s'articulant et en contribuant à leur histoire sociale ou politique globale. Bien entendu, face à une telle entreprise, les résultats sont pluriels, sans jamais être éclatés, car les contributions rassemblées ici, loin de constituer une juxtaposition d'études singulières et cloisonnées, se croisent et se répondent sur la façon d'interroger les sources, la capacité à mesurer le décalage entre pratiques et représentations des rapports sociaux de sexe, ou encore la nécessité de croiser le genre avec d'autres catégories d'analyse. Au coeur d'une histoire résolument mixte et ouverte à toutes les périodes, ce livre témoigne du rapport ambivalent du genre à l'événement. Chemin faisant, il offre aussi une réflexion méthodologique sur les conditions de production et d'écriture de l'histoire des femmes et du genre aujourd'hui. |
