Summarizes workshops convened in May, July, September, and December 2009 by the Institute of Medicine Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care (formerly the Roundtable on Evidence-Based Medicine), to explore the sources and implications of waste and excess cost in health care, as well as strategies and policies necessary to address these issues--
