Nel cuore della foresta è quasi una celebrazione della capacità del legno di entrare nelle nostre vite e nel nostro immaginario, di diventare un frammento di natura carico dì significati simbolici, incastonato nella quotidianità del mondo contemporaneo. Per scrivere questo libro, Deakin ha viaggiato seguendo itinerari del tutto imprevedibili e personali: in Kirghizistan e Kazakistan sulle tracce dell'origine del melo o nella foresta polacca alla ricerca di lontane suggestioni familiari. Ciò che più lo affascinava in questo lavoro di ricerca sul rapporto tra uomo e natura era l'elemento caratteristico naturale ed etnico, ciò che è radicato nella cultura e nel paesaggio locale, e la sua persistenza nel mondo globalizzato. |
