If The Proceedings of a conference are designed to document what actually happened--perhaps with some touch-up for readers and posterity--then a publication such as this, printed and bound beforehand and delivered in the packet for participants, perhaps should be thought of more in the nature of a catalogue for an art exhibit--that is, an outline what is expected to happen. The 55 papers cover face recognition and matching; alignment and segmentation; material and location analysis and its applications; classification, recognition, and kernels; tracking, pose, and gesture; classification; human-machine interfaces; modeling and augmented reality; image matching and color; and systems, novel applications, and techniques.
