L'origine des lettres quebecoises remonte au xviii e siecle. Ce patrimoine litteraire longtemps neglige par les historiens concerne les representations du Canadien par les Europeens durant la Nouvelle-France, mais aussi les premiers textes conçus et diffuses par les Canadiens eux-mêmes dans la nouvelle province du Quebec, puis au Bas-Canada. Au lendemain de la Conquête anglaise, chansons, recits, poemes, memoires et polemiques, mais aussi productions theâtrales animent le paysage culturel, alors que grondent les revolutions americaine et française. |
